A Major Mattress Brand

I created the vision for a sleep expert AI chatbot to sleep deprived adults to relevant products.

1 in 3 adults say they are sleep deprived. We explored the potential of using AI to help direct and help customers to resources and products to get better sleep.

The result: A blue-sky design exploration that resulted in the greenlight of a year long design project.

The Challenge

Mattresses are just one part of sleep, and this brand wanted to explore expanding their share of the multi-billion dollar sleep market beyond mattresses.

The goal: expand their market share in the overall sleep space, including a personalized marketplace, sleep data interpretation, and real-time feedback using AI.

How might we improve the sleep quality of Americans using sleep.com?

To get there, I focused the AI concept on three design strategies.

Data Interpretation

How might we consolidate our fit information?

Marketplace

How can we connect adults to relevant sleep products and services?

Real-time Feedback and Help

How might we provide relevant sleep information in real time to help them fall asleep?

Design Phase

I mapped two key flows: a sleep-support conversation that leads into the marketplace, and an AI-supported marketplace experience where prompts help filter and surface product recommendations.

Sleep supported conversation flows

AI Supported Marketplace

The Solution

A calming, personalized opening experience, with real-time feedback, AI-interpreted sleep data, and personalized product recommendations.

The app gives users a calming, personalized opening experience with prompts. It provides real-time feedback offered problem-solving and support to help with sleep.
