THE PROJECT

I was brought in by a famous home appliance brand to conduct a design thinking workshop to help them ideate features for a connected ice maker with a mobile app. 

The goal of the workshop was to capture the goals, hopes, concerns, and any requirements around the Connected Ice maker project to create a list of prioritized features for the proposed app.

To prepare for the workshop, I conducted user interviews to understand user needs around a smart ice maker app, as well as a stakeholder interview to capture stakeholder and business needs.

THE WORKSHOP

The design workshop, having brought in user data as well as stakeholder data, resulted in a list of prioritized features for the ice maker mobile app, which I then took to create concept designs.

MOBILE APP FEATURES

  1. Turn the ice maker on and off

  2. Schedule ice making

  3. Choose size and weight of ice

  4. Clean ice maker and order filters

  5. Discover drink recipes with the ice

PROCESS WIREFRAMES

I translated these requirements into wireframes, and met again with stakeholders to discuss the flow and experience.

THE FINAL DESIGN

Following their design guidelines,
I designed a mobile app experience that incorporated all the requirements for users to customize their ice maker experience.
